In 2001 the USMSI begins its Start and with the help
of Jonathan Brookfield, and the Surf 4 Life Event. It is able to give away
it's first boards to the best of the Armed Forces for 2002.

For 2K3, We Gave Away 8 Surfboards.Well Known Shapers
Jorge Vicente and Paulo Christo donated thier time to our program . We also
had Active Duty Members Makani Mcdonald (USAF), Jason Tagalin (USN) and Tim
Lilien (USCG) also show off thier board making talents. California based company
Watergirl Original donated a Board Specifically for Female Surfers and Herb
Pruse designed a shape for the Groms of the contest.
